Quantum Architecture Scientist - Fault Tolerance & Quantum Error Correction (Hybrid)
Xanadu’s mission is to build quantum computers that are useful and available to people everywhere.
At Xanadu, we are learners, innovators, researchers, collaborators and problem solvers. We are creating something that has never been built before. What we are doing is extremely hard, the classic moon shot. Few people in their life will be able to be a part of something like this, where if we are successful, the technologies we develop will solve some of the world’s most challenging problems and literally change the world. And that is something to be excited about!
Your role and responsibilities:
As a member of the architecture team, the selected candidate will work on various aspects of Xanadu’s logical architecture. This includes investigating methods for preparing fault-tolerant logical magic states, designing and evaluating QEC codes, developing new theory and numerical/software tools, and providing theory support for experimental demos. The candidate will be a part of a large research team and will work closely with other experts.
Basic qualifications and experience:
PhD in Physics, CS, Math or other relevant field with a specialization in some aspect of fault-tolerant quantum computation
Proven track record performing state-of-the-art research in the field (e.g. peer-reviewed publications, patents, etc.)
Basic familiarity with scientific programming
Preferred qualifications and experience:
Research experience in industry or as a postdoc
Expertise in protocols for preparing logical magic states and/or fault-tolerant application of non-Clifford gates
Expertise in designing/tailoring quantum error correcting codes
Familiarity with measurement-based quantum computation
Familiarity with quantum optics and/or bosonic encodings (GKPs)
Willingness to relocate to Toronto, Canada
